GM to upgrade the horsepower in the Corvette ZR1?

So what do you muscle car enthusiasts think? You think GM is planning to up the horsepower in the Corvette ZR1 for the future? I mean when is it enough horsepower. To me 400 horsepower is enough, since the 1970s GM has doubled it in the Corvette. Back then a lot of small block Corvettes had around 300 horsepower, nowadays 600 horsepower. This is a freakish number for a stock car, it's truly amazing GM achieved this number with their stock parts.

Maybe GM won't go down that road, maybe they'll just be trying to make the car lighter and get better gas mileage because of the gas guzzlers tax and the price of gas. I know they need to do something, it's really starting to hit my check book pretty hard. It would be nice to be able to Cruise Woodward just on $1 or $2. Maybe this will happen if GM releases an electric engine in the Corvette. I sure sick of going to the gas station all the time.

So what do you guys think GM will do to improve the Corvette ZR1? I vote for an all electric engine, now that would be cool!

Why are People Afraid to Work on Muscle Cars

I never really understood why some automotive enthusiasts are afraid to work on their own muscle cars. Simple things like changing their own brake bads, rotors, and oil. Come on man, I know everyone can learn to do these things. At first I was scared, but that was back in high school honestly. Just a little sweat, following of directions, and the right tools I think anyone can get the job done. Yeah, I've been there sometimes trying to pry off a nut, but with the "right tools" such as a breaker bar you can get the job done.

It's fun too, but remember safety comes first. I ended up just buying new floor jack because this old one I bought from Murrays just wasn't cutting it anymore. It was starting to rust and it didn't jack up my girlfriends Dodge Durango real well. So since it was coming up short, I ended up taking a trip over to Harbor Freight in Roseville, picked up a new and bulkier one and it works just great!

My Dad for instance never works on his cars or muscle cars in the past. He always takes them to the mechanic, no matter if it just a simple light bulb replacement. I remember when he told me the bulb on my Trans Am burnt out, he's like "just take it up to the dealership and they'll fix it. I'm thinking in my head, "just for a bulb?" Um, I'll go up to Murrays and replace it myself in a matter of seconds. I mean come on people, lets not be lazy hear. I guess you have to have some will and energy to work on your own car. Myself, the thought of saving $100 - $300 is enough for me to try and fix it myself.

National Corvette Museum Race Track?

Word on the street is the National Corvette Museum wants to build a race track down in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The plan is to make the race track all the way across the highway from the Chevrolet Corvette plant. It will include two road courses, a 1/4 mile drag strip(that's for me), a kart track and a 10 acre autocross course.

The project though is to run the Corvette Museum $35 million dollars, that's a hefty price tag. I really would like to see the race tracks built, it might boost the economy a little bit down in Kentucky. But it's going to take a big chuck of change to get the ball rolling. Maybe they can get some donations going for the track, I'm sure a lot of automotive fans in Kentucky would love to make some donations to get a drags trip and some tracks in there area.

Muscle Car or Boat: Which is Harder to Work on?

I tell you what, I've been tampering around with my new 2000 Smoker Craft boat, man it's a learning process, but it's a lot easier to work on than a muscle car. A muscle car just has too many parts man, boats are simpler with an open work space and easy access to the engine. Well I have a outboard motor so it's a lot easier to work on than outboard.

I'm not doing all the work myself, my friend Andrew is giving me a lot of help and showing me how to work on a boat. He fixed his bilge pump last summer on his own Smoker Craft boat. That's one of the particular boat parts we are working on right now. We just removed it and plan on replacing the old bilge pump with a new aftermarket bilge pump. This one pumps out more water and it seems a lot stabler than the stock one. Plus it has a three year warranty.

So far the process has been slow though. We need to wake up and head over to Gilberts Hardware in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. They have a particular boat part we are looking for, hopefully they have it. Tomorrow the whole process should be done. And I hope, I just hope there's no leaks in the boat. See the old bilge pump was causing a major leak. I think this will solve the problem. Best way to find out is to get it done and test it out on the lake, plain and simple.

Anyways, I'm just glad I have friend to help, it sure is easy to work on a boat compared to a muscle car. If you ever thinking about buying a boat and mechanically inclined, don't be afraid. It's no peace of cake, but with some research and a friend you can surely manage to fix any small boat problem that is to flair up from time to time.

Dodge Challenger Burnout

This is a great muscle car picture to upload as your avatar on any car forum. I just love muscle car burnouts! This 2010 Dodge Challenger is really doing a sweet burnout! It's always good to use some wax in your fenders before you do something like this. I remember when I was drag racing my 2002 Trans Am at Milan drag strip. The after effect was rubber coated fenders, it was a real bitch getting that melted rubber off my fenders. I had to peel it off with my finger nails, I'll never do that again!

Dodge Challenger Police Car

Now this is interesting, one particular department of justice decided to obtain a Dodge Challenger as their police car. I think the outcome of the muscle car is sweet as hell. I think the blue and red lights flow really well with the Challenger. I wonder if they did any modifications under the hood, maybe a supercharger? It's always good to have a boost in horsepower over the criminals. But the Dodge Challenger stock is has a serious amount of horsepower, I'm sure the officer of this Challenger will have no problem chasing down a criminal.

Great Photos of the 2009 Dodge Challenger

I decided to gather up a few photos of the 2009 Dodge Challenger, why you might ask, well 2009 was a good year for me and I hate to see it go. What better way to remember the year 2009 to post some great pictures of the 2009 Dodge Challenger RT. Remember when the Challenger first hit the market? Every automotive enthusiast around wanted to own one of these amazing muscle cars. Everything from the cool five spoke wheels to the black racing stripes down the hood. It's definitely one of the best muscle cars ever made.

Muscle Car Ford GT Sets Speed Record

Just this past weekend in Exotics Rally Miami a custom Ford GT has set a record speed of 266.93mph. The Ford GT is said to be pumping out 1900 horsepower at 41 pounds of boost. I'm just mind boggled to hear this, I would of never thought a Ford GT would be able to handle that amount of horsepower. Check out the video down below to see the 1900 horsepower Ford GT in action.

Lamborghini Gallardo Breaks 250mph Barrier

Not a muscle car I know, but it's pretty big car news and it has to be posted on our muscle car blog. Just this past week a 2008 Lamborghini has broke the 250mph barrier in Texas. The owner Richard Holt pulled down a 250.1mph run, the twin turbos on the Lamborghini helped achieve this moment in automotive history.
