Washed my 2002 Trans Am WS.6

Well, I finally decided to wash my 2002 Trans Am WS.6 today. It took quite some time, first started with taking the bugs and sap off with some special stuff I got from Murrays. See the TA has been sitting outside for the last two weeks because I bought a boat. There's a tree right by my house, kind of sucks because any car that sits in my driveway gets bird shit, sap, leaves, and other crap all over their car.

I couldn't sacrifice the 2004 Cobra getting all the crap on it because of the value of the car. I only have 1000 miles on it and I think one day it might be worth a decent amount of money. But, I never know, maybe the 2002 Trans Am will be worth more since there is no Pontiac division anymore.

After that I mixed up some suds and sponged the car to death. I don't just go over my muscle cars once, I go over it twice to make sure I get all the dirt and grime off of it. Then I went over the Trans Am with a long rinse, got all the soap off and got under the entire car to make sure I got all the salt off from the winter. Wheel well are important too, that's where the rust starts.

Second from last thing to do was to take a few dry microfiber towels to my muscle car. Microfibers are good because they absorb more water and they rub dirt off better then regular tires. Mainly because of the tiny microfibers in the towel.

Last but not least was vacuuming the interior out, my favorite part, "not!" - Small Wayne's World Quote. For some reason I never enjoyed vacuuming the carpet and seats in my car, I guess because it's loud and very boring. At the end though it's well worth it, my car smell fresh inside and the outside has a nice shine to it. It's just too bad I don't have my CCW wheels on the car, would of made for a very nice side shot. Instead I took a head on shot of the ram air scoops, the muscle car still looks sharp to say the least.

I really don't want to put my CCW wheels back on until I have my insurance on and I know I will be taking my car out for car shows and cruising purposes. The insides of the wheels already have enough pits in them, I want to try and keep them clean as possible. Last thing I need is the chrome to start flaking off.

I'm pretty excited though for the summer, Aprils been a warm month. Next month is when a lot of gear heads will have their muscle cars out and start cruising Woodward. Just can't wait! Hope to see you out there gear heads...

Took My 2004 SVT Mustang Cobra Out

I ended up taking my 2004 SVT Mustang Cobra out the other day. I was actually transporting it to my parents house for storage, I hate to put more miles on it, but I don't have the money to pay anyone to transport it. The baby still has 1000 miles on the clock and is in pristine condition, no mods whatsoever. It's kind of sad because we know how much horsepower these muscle cars can produce on the dyno. I've been itching to just put a catback exhaust on the Cobra, but ever little modification devalues the car.

It was a fun time though, I got to drive it all the way from St. Clair Shores to Leonard in Michigan. About a fifty minute drive, gave it a little gas hear in there, but I never floor it. Remind you my 2004 SVT Cobra only has 1000 miles on it and the engine isn't even broken in. I'm sure you don't have to compare it to an aluminum engine, since it's an iron block, but I stay on the safe side and treat it like a baby. Hopefully one day the Cobra Mustang will be worth some big money.

It was really cool taking it in some turns out in the city or Rochester and Leonard, it's really hilly out there in those cities of Michigan. The car overall handles pretty good for stock suspension. The power is there in every RPM thanks to the Eaton supercharger. I can't imagine what the Cobra would feel like if it was sporting a Whipple supercharger and other bolt on mods. It must pull like a freight train!

Man it doesn't surprise me that Ford has their track out there in Leonard, Michigan. Probably gives Ford a chance to take it out on the track, then take it out on the road on the hills and tight turns. By the way, it's so cool that my parents place is right next to the test track. At night time you can go up on the second floor and see Ford's engineers testing out their cars out on their track. Can't see much though, the track is covered well with trees and brush.

Anways, got the Cobra out there and bundled it all up for storage. It kind of sucked that I had to drive it on a few dirt roads, but surprisingly there wasn't much dirt that got on the muscle car. It still needs a wash though! When I get the insurance on my 2002 Trans Am I'll probably drive out there and give the Mustang a wash.

Economy to hurt Muscle Car Hobby?

Man with all the business closing down and people not having jobs these days, I'm kind of surprised the muscle car hobby still lives on. This is the last thing I want to talk about on my blog, but with all the negative information I see on the TV everday, the future for muscle cars does not look good. First the government wants us to pay for a high insurance on cars, then very costly gas prices, and after that now it's health care. A lot of people are on their last leg, people don't have money for car hobbies such as these anymore. It's sad I know, but it's true.

I'm really not sure what Woodward's going to be like every weekend this summer. It's pretty warm where I'm at, I kind of want to put my insurance back on my 2002 Trans AM WS.6, but with all economy being so sluggish in Michigan, I really doubt there's going to be anyone out cruising just yet. And the longer I cold hold out on paying insurance on my muscle car, more money I can save. Last thing I want to do is spend $200 on insurance just for one month and there's not going to be anyone cruising on Woodward, that would really suck!

This past year Gratiot was totally dead, there was barely any muscle cars cruising that area. Three years ago that strip was always packed with muscle cars, car enthusiasts out and about! Nowadays, you'll be lucky if you see five muscle cars out there on the weekend.

Now I'm sure the muscle car hobby is still surviving in other states. Wealthy states such as Californai, Florida, and Texas. I hear the car hobby over in those states is pretty strong and it's going to take a lot diminish the hobby in those states. That's good to hear, but what about our Motorcity. My hometown state of Michigan? I just hope we can help this hobby survive in our state. It seems now that Ford is doing better, along with GM, but it does look like Mopar will eventually go under. I have a family member that is working for the company still and he says upper management doesn't seem like they know what they are doing. That's pretty scary!

But, I'm still going to keep a positive attitude and hope for a good turnout out on Woodward this summer. If the weekends aren't good out on the street, I'm sure some of the car shows around town will still be hopping. If that fails, we still have the largest car cruise ever, "The Woodward Dream Cruise." Either way, I'll still be out cruising in my Pontiac Trans Am this summer. There's nothing like cruising in the warm weather with the T-tops down, it's so pleasant. Hope to see you out their muscle car enthusiasts!
